Liberal Arts AA - Women’s and Gender Studies Option

The Women’s Studies option is an interdisciplinary major which examines women’s roles and achievements locally and globally. Various perspectives are presented through such courses as Women in History, Sociology of Gender Roles, Women in Literature, and Women and Religion.
Program Learning Outcomes (PLOs)
- Recognize how race, sexuality, class, ethinicity, ability, religion, and location intersect with gender identity in order to use this understanding in dialogue with others. [ACUE 2, Bloom’s 2]
- Apply feminism as both a concept and an analytical approach to study women and gender in different historical and cultural contexts. [ACUE 3, Bloom’s 3]
- Examine how diverse identities, cultures, and societies are structured by the intersections of categories including gender, race, sexuality, class, ability, religion, and global location. [ACUE 4, Bloom’s 4]
- Identify and evaluate core assumptions that are attached to contemporary systems of gender and sexuality. [ACUE 2/5, Bloom’s 2/6]
