This course examines psychological adjustment and the prevention and treatment of psychological disorders.
The course focuses on the framework established by the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders.
Topics of discussion include historical perspectives of mental illness, mood, anxiety, and trauma-related disorders, stress and coping mechanisms, sexual variations and dysfunction, substance use and eating disorders, and the more severe pathologies such as psychotic disorders and schizophrenia.
