SUR-108 Foundations of Surgical Technology

This course will provide the fundamental principles, and applications of the role of the surgical technologist.
The laboratory exercises allow the student to develop proper aseptic technique and practice their hands-on skills. Students will learn to create the sterile field perioperatively.
This course also introduces pharmacology and anesthesia. Emphasis is on classification of drugs, their effects and usage, conversions, labeling and the safe handling of syringes.

Prerequisite(s): SUR-100 ; SUR-105 ; SUR-106
