CRJ-102 Introduction to Corrections

This course is an overview of the history and philosophical foundations of the American correctional system. This course examines the organization and operation of the correctional system and correctional treatment programs ranging from pre-trial diversion to post-incarceration procedures. The course analyzes current issues and problems in corrections such as social control within prisons, legal rights of prisoners, and alternatives to imprisonment.
